Internationalization

Internationalization activities within a PhD program represent a strategic and highly qualifying element in the training of researchers. They broaden scientific, cultural, and methodological horizons, fostering integration into international academic and research environments.

Through mobility experiences, collaborations with foreign universities, participation in joint projects, and co-supervision of theses, PhD candidates have the opportunity to engage with diverse approaches, access advanced resources and laboratories, and build professional networks that are valuable for their future academic or professional careers.

Moreover, internationalization promotes the development of transferable skills, such as foreign language proficiency, adaptability, and the ability to manage complex projects in multicultural settings. In an increasingly interconnected research world, these experiences not only enrich the educational pathway but also enhance the visibility and attractiveness of the PhD program itself, contributing to the growth of human capital and to the competitiveness of the national university system.

One of the strengths of the PhD in Translational Molecular Medicine and Surgery is the promotion of mobility for both faculty members and PhD candidates, as well as the encouragement of internationalization in full alignment with the University Strategic Plan and that of the Department of Biomedical, Dental, and Morphological and Functional Imaging Sciences to which it belongs. In this regard, the PhD program has long cooperated with various Italian and international research centers and universities, through scientific collaborations that have included exchanges of Academic Board members for both cutting-edge joint research activities and teaching/seminar initiatives. The intensity of these collaborations is also demonstrated by numerous publications in high-impact international journals with foreign co-authors.

The mobility of PhD candidates is planned in coordination with the supervisor and the PhD Coordinator, following formal procedures for authorization and reimbursement of expenses. This ensures effective organization and concrete support for students during their experiences abroad.
